AI Is Eating Software: Is B2B SaaS Dead?

Join a cross-firm panel of early-stage venture investors — Glenn Borok and Ron Levin of Alumni Ventures’ Seed Fund, John Harthorne, Founder and Managing Director of Two Lanterns Venture Capital and Gregory Raiz, General Partner at FoundersEdge — for a sharp, contrarian look at one of the most consequential debates in venture today: as AI rewrites how software gets built, sold, and used, is the B2B SaaS model that has defined a generation of returns actually heading toward extinction — or evolving into something new?
In this session, Glenn Borok and Ron Levin of Alumni Ventures’ Seed Fund will be joined by John Harthorne (Two Lanterns Venture Partners) and Gregory Raiz (FoundersEdge) for a multi-firm panel on what’s happening at the intersection of AI and B2B software — and why the seed stage is the front line of the debate. The panel will examine how AI-native companies are challenging traditional SaaS economics, what the rise of agentic workflows means for software’s pricing, packaging, and moats, and how four early-stage VCs are evaluating defensibility, business models, and which categories of B2B software look most vulnerable to disruption versus most likely to be reborn.
Whether you’re a current Seed Fund investor sharpening your view on AI’s impact across the venture stack, or an accredited investor evaluating early-stage venture for the first time, this session will give you a grounded, investor-focused take on a debate that will define which companies generate the next decade of returns. Register to hear directly from the investors underwriting these bets every week — and bring your hardest questions for the live Q&A.

Investment Areas of Focus:
Ron’s investment strategy is grounded in the belief that moonshot ideas—when coupled with great execution—can generate asymmetric outcomes. He gravitates toward founders solving global-scale problems through advanced technology, with a particular interest in sectors such as:
- Enterprise software
- Fintech and edtech
- Life sciences and healthtech
- Clean energy and sustainability
- Space and advanced computing
He is especially drawn to companies that combine technical rigor with mission-driven ambition—ventures that challenge the status quo and improve lives across the economic spectrum.
His impact-focused philosophy is captured in his book, Higher Purpose Venture Capital, which highlights startups tackling root causes and symptoms of social and wealth inequality. Ron’s notable investments aligned with this “double bottom line” thesis include:
- Aprende Institute, empowering upskilling in underserved communities (edtech)
- Fido, extending digital identity and financial access in emerging markets (fintech)
- HopSkipDrive, transforming student and senior transportation (mobility) Provenance, enabling traceability and transparency in supply chains (cleantech)
- Surge Therapeutics, developing innovative cancer immunotherapies (biotech)
These companies reflect Ron’s broader vision: to support transformational technologies that deliver extraordinary outcomes—for both investors and the world.
